Joey Fillingane was born and raised in South Mississippi where he has also served in the Mississippi Legislature for the past twenty years. Joey has a large extended family (he is one of five siblings) and loves family time with all of his siblings, parents, nieces and nephews. Joey practices civil law in Mississippi when he is not in Jackson at the State Capitol conducting legislative business on behalf of his constituents in the Mississippi State Senate. Joey loves to exercise including jogging and tennis. Joey enjoys teaching his young adult Sunday School class at the Southern Baptist Church that he attends regularly.

The Kingdom is an exciting, important read for young adults today. So often, we are forced to choose between mindless drivel or amoral fantasy tales in our reading options. The Kingdom’s well-written, thought-provoking prose is a welcome relief for young people who want to live for a cause greater than themselves.

The Kingdom

The Kingdom is a book series that tracks four young strangers who are brought together by a tragic circumstance and who set out on a mission to repay a royal stranger for an unexpected act of sacrifice. Their campaign will take them on a dangerous journey of self-discovery and will bring them into battle with forces of darkness which will stretch their faith and test their belief in their King and themselves. As they travel the world to spread the message of freedom and hope, enemies with dark powers will oppose them and attempt to destroy them and enslave their world. Sam, Will, Alexei and Bai will discover that they too have special gifts that will aid them in their struggle of life and death. Will goodness, love and light triumph over evil, hate and darkness? These unlikely heroes will soon put that question to the ultimate test and will discover that friends and foes are sometimes hard to distinguish especially when there is a love triangle blurring the battle lines.
